My Neighbors the Yamadas (ホーホケキョとなりの山田くん, Houhokekyo Tonari no Yamada-kun) was directed by Isao Takahata and was released by Studio Ghibli in July 17 1999. The movie is a family comedy done in a comic strip style (unusual, since all the other studio Ghibli movies are done in the anime style), based on a manga by Hisaichi Ishii. It was the first Ghibli movie to be completely digital. Despite decent reviews, the movie did not fare well at the box office in Japan. It was released on DVD in America in August 2005. 104 Minutes. Produced by Toshio Suzuki.

The story chronicalled the lives of a Japanese family and all their crazy life happenings. The movie is funny but rings a tone of sincerity like most movies by Isao Takahata do.
