| Negative cutting (also known as negative matching and negative conforming) is the locating of the exact negatives in all of the film footage shot, cutting it to the exact length as indicated, cementing it all together, and assemble it to the proper order. It is part of the post-production process. Negative cutting is expected to be made obsolete, with the advent of digital cinema technologies.
