Ninja Sentai Kakurenjaa (忍者戦隊カクレンジャー translated as, Ninja Battle Team Hidden Ranger) was TOEI Company Limited's eighteenth production of the Super Sentai television series. Its footage was used in the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers & Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers.

Plot

400 years ago, a band of ninja battled an army of Youkai & sealed them away in a cave... But in present time, two young men were tricked into releasing the Youkai. Now these two, joined by three others become ninja to fight the Youkai with the aid of the Three God Shoguns.

Characters

KakuRangers

Each member is named after a legendary ninja.

Sasuke (サスケ) / Ninja Red (ニンジャレッド) : The agile leader of the team. He is a reckless young man who's hot to go out and drag his comrades into battle with the enemy. Hence, he messes up a lot. But he doesn't reflect on his errors and is good-hearted and loyal. No matter how great the enemy, he won't budge. His Ninja trademark is "Bushin".

Tsuruhime (鶴姫) / Ninja White (ニンジャホワイト) : Tsuruhime is a strong girl who is looking for her missing father (aka Hakumenrou). She had greater leadership skills than Sasuke. She once fought alongside two other girls, Yukiyo & Tsukiyo, as one of the 'Punishment Sisters'. Her specialty is "Henge" usually involving Origami.

Saizou (サイゾウ) / Ninja Blue (ニンジャブルー): A constantly chattering, easily flattered man who thinks he's a lot smarter than he really is. Water walking is his specialty.

Seikai (セイカイ) / Ninja Yellow (ニンジャイエロー): He's driven by desire--for food, sleep, and women. He's indecisive, but has unusual strength. His specialty is "Ninpou" which allows him to grow giant size to attack his enemy.

Jiraiya (ジライヤ) / Ninja Black (ニンジャブラック): An Japanese-American ninja from LA. Jiraiya stands out among the characters because he speaks English frequently, his native language, but he learns Japanese as the show progresses. When he first appeared, he was helping the Youkai. In reality, he did so to steal the other four scrolls to allow him, Tsuruhime, Saizou, & Seikai to become Great Beast Shoguns. He is the pure fighter of the group.

Help

Momochi Sandayu: A ninja master who instructs Kakurangers on their ability. He is killed by Gasha Skull.

NinjaMan: The pupil of the Three God Generals, awakened from a pot after a thousand years' sleep. As a ninja master, NinjaMan wields a katana & had a wide array of ninja-magic skills, including enlargement to aid his mentors in their fights. Whenever a Youkai calls him "Blue Squirt", he gets angry enough to change into SamuraiMan, who connects his weapon with its sheath to form a powerful javelin. In this state, SamuraiMan creates explosive energy spheres formed from his rage in his ultimate attack.

Tarou & Jirou: Twin ninja who served Tsuruhime's father. They accompanied Tsuruhime's father to stop Daimaou years ago, but they were captured. Tsuruhime's father had to exchange his life to serve Daimaou in order to spare their lives. In response, the two of them were turned into dogs, posing as pets to Bun. The two eventally returned the favor by sacrificing themselves to free Hakamenrou.

Bun: A Youkai who despises the Youkai way & has been helping Hakamenrou in secret.
