Nostalghia (Russian: Ностальгия) is a 1983 film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky and starring Oleg Yankovsky. It was filmed in Italy, with most of the dialogue in Italian. The film tells the story of a Russian poet, Andrei (portrayed by Oleg Yankovsky) who travels to Italy to conduct research for an opera libretto that he is writing. The narrative is intercut with abstract dream-like sequences. One theme of the film is the exploration of the expatriate Russian's feelings of displacement, which most critics have identified with Tarkovsky's own emotional experience of living in Italy. Other forms of "nostalghia" in the story are various characters' yearnings to overcome their spiritual alienation and mend their separation from other people.

Nostalghia is considered one of the most beautiful films ever made, primarily in terms of its visual qualities, and it contains several shots which have become famous. One of these is an eight minute, forty five second take of Andrei trying to cross a drained outdoor pool carrying a candle, which he must prevent from being extinguished by the wind. Another is the release of songbirds from a Madonna statue in a church lit with candles. Yet another is the final image of the film, a forced perspective shot placing a rural farmhouse inside a ruined cathedral.
