Movies - Pay or play contract |
|
||
A pay or play contract specifies that money will be paid to a person regardless of whether or not their services are used. They are common in the entertainment industry and a common example is for an actor to be given a pay or play contract to appear in a movie. Even if the production company later proceeds to make the movie using a different actor, or doesn't make the movie at all, the first actor still gets paid. This decreases risk for the actor, allowing them to dedicate time and effort to the role without worrying if they may be cut out at any time.Sources
