	Movies - Phatlime

Phatlime is a cartoon series created by Dunedin residents Ethan Rodgers and Spencer Hall. It was originally created as a parody of Gary Larson's The Far Side. Its name began as The Far Slide, then The Phat slide, then The Phat Lime and finally just Phatlime. It is currently being made into a movie of the same name.

Themes

The themes throughout the cartoon series and the film vary. This is due to the opposing polical veiwpoints of its two creators. Some of the early cartoons featured generally left wing politics in such cartoons as , George Bush's Dream (In which george bush is seen dressed as the king of earth) but other cartoons such as Horizontally challenged citrus fruit were openly right wing.

The main theme of the film however has no real political stance and is more a giant parody of society and its flaws. Some may see the fact that the villians are Communists as right wing propoganda but it is unclear as the finished version of the film is still well off.

Characters

In the Cartoons

The characters who have appeared in the cartoons where originally stickmen with different shaped heads.

They were:

Triangle Head Guy, Circle Head Guy, Square Head Guy, Star Head Guy, Revolver Head Guy (The Godfather in some), Semi Circle Head Guy (Goon Phil in some), Upside-down Triangle Head Girl, Pyramid Head Guy and Cube Head Guy (As the intelligent cousins from the north), Triangle Head family and Diamond Head Guy

Eventually real people were used as characters.

They were

Oswald, G.H. Oswald, Ivan the Muss, Wolfey (Augustus Vinchencio Wolffe) and Most Evil Man (Ian McSwetty)

In the film

=Jimmy Barr===== The main hero of the film. He is really a parody of all the movie cops ever. He breaks the rules, angers his superiors, is motivated by revenge and doesn't use the standard issue gun. His choice of dress was based on Humphrey Bogart (Of whom there are many references to) in The Maltese Falcon. He is a drunk who has been (according to other characters) in rehab, Reno, Dead and a civil servant in Swazzibobbleland. At the end of the film after beating The Most Evil Man he walks of into the distance and off to fix somethings in his life, despite the calls of the people resuced to stay.

=The Most Evil Man in Town (Ian McSwetty)===== The main villain of the film. Ian McSwetty (Most Evil Man) is a loser who leads a club called the Neo-Communists. They consist of himself, Obida al Fazul, Paddy O'callahan, the Slim Reaper and Lord Infitus (By the end of the film all are dead save for Infitus). After having an odd dream McSwetty decides to blow up, what he calls a "glistening symbol of capitalism", the moon and all the incidents in the film become connected to this event. He is eventually shot off in a rocket. He appears at the start of the film on Albatross Funk's show This Will Be Your Life

=Wolfey (Augustus Vinchencio Wolffe)===== An idiot casting agent. Wolfey has worked on many films starring 2pac and many new up and coming stars. He is in extremely bad shape money wise. He co-owns and operates A.V.Wolffe & Y.Friends casting agency. Although he is a casting agent he has very little knowledge of the film bussiness. One day he kidnaps a pair of actors in order to pay of his immense debt to G.H.Oswald by selling them as slaves. The plan backfires and he along with his partner called Friends (Yourbest Friends) and the 2 actors are kidnapped themselves after Wolfey gets lost on his way to Oswalds house and ends up in The Most Evil Man's restricted forest. he is eventually sent to jail for 4000 years+ for the 1000's of crimes he committed over the years

=Katherine===== One of the 2 actors kidnapped by Wolfey. Her character was named after the legendary actress Katherine Hepburn. She really, really doesn't like Wolfey at all and gets panicky and fretful at the drop of a hat. She appears at the end of the film on Albatross Funk's show This Was Your Life.

=Humphrey===== One of the 2 actors kidnapped by Wolfey. His character was named after Humphrey Bogart. He is generally pretty quiet and doesn't say too much. He was asked by Wolfey if he would like to be typecast, he said yes but only in roles similar to that James Dean had. Wolfey however had no idea who James Dean is.

=Helen Meech (Mrs Most Evil Man)===== She is the wife of Ian McSwetty (The Most Evil Man). She is the voice of reason amongst all the chaos ensuing after The Most Evil Man's plan came to be. she was disinclined to change her name to Helen McSwetty after she marryed him because she thought McSwetty was a stupid name, so instead she opted for Mrs Most Evil Man. She survives the encounter with Jimmy Barr and as The Most Evil Man is flying away she calls out lots of movie cliché's
