Raise the Titanic is a film released in 1980 and based on the 1976 best-selling Clive Cussler novel of the same name. The film, directed by Jerry Jameson, was a financial flop. The film's tagline is Once they said God Himself couldn't sink her. Then they said no man on earth could reach her. Now, you will be there when we... RAISE THE TITANIC!

Plot summary

The US navy is eager to develop a nuclear-defense system using a rare mineral named Byzanium. The only known supply of such a mineral was taken to the United States by the ocean liner Titanic, which sank on its maiden voyage in 1912. With the Titanic too deep down to take the mineral from the ship's cargo, the only alternative is to bring the ship to the surface (the ship is depicted as being in one piece, despite many accounts that it broke in two as it sank).
