Resurrection is the name of a number of motion pictures, both silent and in various languages, based on the Leo Tolstoy novel of the same title.

The first was a silent short film made in 1909 by Biograph Studios. Adapted for the screen by Frank E. Woods, it was directed by D.W. Griffith and starred several pioneering legends of American cinema such as Arthur V. Johnson, Florence Lawrence, Marion Leonard, Owen Moore, Mack Sennett and Griffith's wife, Linda Arvidson.

Using the book title, in 1917 a silent film was made in Italy by director Mario Caserini called" Resurrezione" and in 1923 another version was filmed in France by director Marcel L'Herbier.

In 1927, Hollywood filmmaker Edwin Carewe adapted the book to a feature length silent production starring Dolores del Rio and featuring an apperarance by Ilya Tolstoy. With the advent of talkies, in 1931 Universal Studios made a Spanish language version titled "Resurrección" and that same year had Edwin Carewe remake his 1927 silent film in the English language. In 1943 it was filmed again in Mexico as a Spanish language talkie by director Gilberto Martínez Solares and a year later a sound version was made in the Italian language by directior Flavio Calzavara.

In 1968 the book was made into a United Kingdom television miniseries by the BBC and in 2001 it was filmed again as a three-hour television film in the Italian language as "Resurrezione."
