Abbott & Costello star as Doc & Wishey who run into Nazis who want to smuggle bombs into the USA from a Mexican border hotel. Kathryn Grayson, in one of her first leading roles, co-stars. Rio Rita is an unusual addition to the Abbott and Costello canon in that it is one of the only films the duo made that was not produced by Universal Pictures. Universal chose to loan the team out to MGM on a one-movie-per-year deal.
