| Robert Buckner (May 28, 1906 - August, 1989) was a film screenwriter, producer and short story writer. He wrote the screenplays for films including Knute Rockne All American (1940). As a producer the Crewe, Virginia-born Buckner worked on the 1946 John Garfield film Nobody Lives Forever and Confidential Agent (1945) with Charles Boyer and Lauren Bacall. Buckner studied at the University of Virginia and the University of Edinburgh. Buckner began his professional writing career at age 20, as London correspondent for the New York World. He specialized in westerns at the end of his career.
