| Rock Star (2001) is a movie starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Stephen Herek. The film also stars Jennifer Aniston (Friends). It attempts to describe the early 80's big hair metal - rock groups, "stadium groups", and the lifestyle that followed the band members. The film is loosely based on the story of Tim 'Ripper' Owens who replaced Rob Halford as the lead singer of Judas Priest after being in a Judas Priest tribute band. PlotRock Star revolves around the story of Chris 'Izzy' Cole (played by Wahlberg) and a rock band called Steel Dragon. Izzy is a photocopier technician by day, and the lead singer of a Steel Dragon tribute band by night.
