Roger Murtaugh (born 1937) is a fictional police officer from the Lethal Weapon films, played in all four by Danny Glover. Murtaugh, often referred to as 'Rog', is the laid back, even keeled family man partner of the eccentric and sardonic Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), and is often heard mumbling "I'm gettin' too old for this shit." He is married to Trish (a novelist) and has three children, two daughters (Rianne and Carrie), one son (Nick), and in the fourth film a grandchild.

In the fourth film he and Riggs are both promoted to Captain, but due to certain misadventures are later returned to the rank of Sergeant.
