The Scooby Gang, or "Scoobies", are the names given to Buffy Summers and her friends and colleagues who assist her in her duties as slayer in the cult television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
usually after they discover the existence of vampires and demons. The first appearance of the term is in season two's What's My Line?, Part 1, as spoken by Xander Harris. The line-up of the group varied from year to year but the core remained intact throughout the programmes run. This core consisted of Buffy herself; and her best friends, Willow and Xander. Most argue Giles, Buffy's watcher to be the fourth member, and he is widely accepted as being so, despite his absence from the majority of season six.

The term is also used in the television series House by Hugh Laurie's character to refer to his team in the second season episode Humpty Dumpty.

*Faith Lehane, until she turns to the dark side and begins working for The Mayor in Consequences. She is later put in a coma in Graduation Day, Part Two.

Season 4:

*Spike, although his relationship with the others remains strained and conflicted.

*Rupert Giles, until he leaves town in Tabula Rasa.
