| Short Time is a movie comedy about a Seattle detective played by Dabney Coleman who, upon finding out he has two weeks to live, tries to get killed in the line of duty. In actuality, Coleman's character is quite healthy, but the results of his physical got mixed with an ill man's patient file. This irony provides the basis for the film. In the end, Coleman finds out he is fine (while in the middle of a fiasco to get himself killed) and the the ill man dies. This give Coleman a new lease on life and he renews his love for his wife and son.
