Episode synopsisPart 1In the first half of the two-part season finale, Zhao begins to launch his attack against the Northern Water Tribe. As the walls of the prestiged city begin to fall, the Avatar taps into the spirit world and seeks the help of one of the oldest spirits, in hopes of saving one of the most prominent areas of the world. Sokka takes Princess Yue on a ride on Appa, during which they nearly kiss. Sokka then discovers the attack.Part 2The Northern Water Tribe must brace itself for a powerful attack by Admiral Zhao’s Fire Navy fleet. In the heat of battle, Aang struggles to defend the city. Curious, Aang wonders if his Avatar abilities can be put to better use. Meanwhile, Zhao’s invasion breaks through the outer wall of the Northern Water Tribe’s defenses, and he reveals a sinister plan. Zhao wants to kill the mortal manifestation of the moon spirit in order to destroy the moon, which would greatly weaken the Water Tribe. Aang goes to the spirit world for help. He visits the Face Stealer , who steals faces if emotions are shown. Aang questions him and realizes that the white and black koi he saw swimming in the pond are the moon and ocean spirits. It's a race against time for Aang to get back and prevent Zhao from destroying the Northern Water Tribe. When Aang returns to the pond, Zhao captures the white koi fish. Immediately, the moon glows red and color seeps from the world. Iroh threatens Zhao and Zhao appears to listen and return the koi, but Zhao suddenly throws fire at the koi and it dies. The moon vanishes altogether from the sky. Aang suddenly fuses with the water spirit into a giant spirit creature and annihilates the Fire Nation's invasion force. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko's identity as the spirit destined to release the Avatar is revealed, and he and Admiral Zhao fight. Princess Yue, who at birth was saved from death by the moon spirit, sacrifices herself to give the white koi the moon spirit that was inside her. As Aang is victorious, he stops fighting the fire nation, and he exits the ocean spirit. It leaves Aang to attack Admiral Zhao, dragging him into the water. After the battle, Pakku, the Waterbending Master, reconsiders teaching Katara waterbending because she is the granddaughter of Kana, the woman he was once engaged to. She soon surpasses all his students and is chosen to be Aang's new teacher for waterbending. In the end the Fire Lord says to Princess Azula, "Iroh is a traitor and your brother Zuko is a failure... I have a task for you".Trivia- This two-part season one finale was described by Michael Dante DiMartino as being "pretty epic" for an animation series.- "A man needs his rest." Uncle Iroh repeats this line from "The Boy in the Iceberg" verbatim. This time, instead of referring to himself, he is referring to Prince Zuko, symbolizing Zuko's newfound emotional maturity in letting go of his obsession with capturing the Avatar. - The iceberg that North Water Tribe waterbenders create that freezes a Fire Nation ship is very similar to the iceberg that Aang and Katara discover in "The Boy in the Iceberg" CastThis list does not include main characters. ;Yugoda: Lucille Bliss ;Princess Yue: Johanna E.
