| The Sony HDR-FX1, introduced in late 2004, was the first HDV 3CDD camcorder which supported 1080i thus virtually created a revolution in the HDTV arena. The Sony HDR-FX1 supports 16:9 which allows filmmakers who shoot on video to increase the resolution of their footage up to three times (compared to SD). The widescreen format also translates better to film than the standard SD ration of 4:3.
