	Movies - Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone

Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone is a 1983 science fiction film. The movie stars Peter Strauss, Molly Ringwald, Ernie Hudson, Andrea Marcovicci, and Michael Ironside. The film's executive producer was Ivan Reitman and it was directed by Lamont Johnson. When the movie came out in 1983 in theatres, it was shown in 3-D.

It is the 22nd century, a huge spaceship is heading near an ion storm, the storm badly damages the ship. An escape pod leaves the ship as the ship explodes; the escape pod finds the nearest planet that can support life. Three beautiful women are in the escape pod, which lands on the surface of the planet Terra 11. The women get out of the pod and are surrounded by scavengers ("Scavs"). The Scavs get nearer but are interrupted by a train-like machine.

In another part of space, a ship is in orbit around an asteroid. The owner of the ship, Wolff (played by Peter Strauss), a bounty hunter and former soldier, is sleeping. Wolff gets a call on his com system about the three women, the transmission is messed up, he kicks the console. He awakes Chalmers (played by Andrea Marcovicci), his female companion, who is an android, to fix the computer, which she does. Wolff and Chalmers find out about the planet the women are on, Terra 11: a plague hit the planet a long time ago during a war. Wolff sets the ship's course for Terra 11.

The ship arrives on Terra 11, Wolff and Chalmers get inside a big vehicle called the Scrambler. They drive away and Chalmers causes the ship to be covered in dirt. They are driving along till they see the train and the three women being attacked by "Zoners", henchmen of Overdog (played by Michael Ironside), a cyborg man who is the ruler of the planet. Wolff and Chalmers go help the people on the train, they see the three women get taken up by hang gliding machines called "Vultures"; the women are taken to the Zone. Chalmers gets shot by a Zoner. The fighting is over, some of the people on the train are wounded, an old man confuses Wolff with Overdog. The two other men tell him that he is not Overdog McNab. The two other men, Duster and Jarrett, promise the old man the death of Overdog. Wolff sees Chalmers dead, he is saddened, he activates a destruct sequence on Chalmers, she melts away.

Wolff is driving awhile till he stumbles on an old serum depot, he goes to look at it and sees a dead body. The Scrambler's motor starts, Wolff runs to get the person and discovers it is a teenage girl, Niki (played by Molly Ringwald). Niki tells Wolff to leave, but realizes why he is here, she saw the Vultures take the three women in the sky. Niki offers to help Wolff track him to the Zone, Wolff lets her come along. Wolff and Niki drive for a while till it gets dark, they eat some food, Niki never had a hot dog before, she decides to eat it.

In the Zone, Vultures land at the Zone, then take the women to see Chemist (played by Harant Alianak), the chief henchman of Overdog. The girls demand to be let go, but the Chemist assures them they will feel at home here, and then drugs them.

Meanwhile, Wolff is sleeping, he smells a bad smell, it is Niki laying next to him. He picks up Niki and throws her into the water because she is filthy, she gets mad and slaps Wolff, Wolff cleans her up. Wolff and Niki see a tank-like machine coming over to them, Wolff goes to stop the person driving it, the driver is Washington (played by Ernie Hudson), a former partner of Wolff, he sees Wolff on the ground, and Wolff knocks his gun out of his hands and they have a talk, Washington tells Wolff that he is now Sector Chief and Wolff is not to be here, after the talk, Wolff throws his gun into the pond. They both leave him there.

At the Zone, Chemist is talking to Overdog. Chemist shows Overdog about the three women, he needs them for life energy. Overdog has the Chemist leave, then he examines the women standing in the center.

Driving on the road, Wolff takes the Scrambler to an empty building to hold up for the night, he allows Niki to be near him, they finally introduce themselves to one another. They are about to go to sleep when they hear a noise, they see cocoons hanging and see mutants coming out of them. Wolff has Niki get to the rope and slide down the rope to the Scrambler, Wolff is right behind, they make it and leave the building.

Meanwhile, Wolff and Niki go to another building that has water in it, Niki guides Wolff through, Niki is captured by Amazon women, they have Niki in a net, Wolff rescues Niki and a lizard creature comes up from the water and Wolff shoots it with his gun. Wolff and Niki escape up to the top and out a hatch which leads to the desert. Wolff is upset and Niki tells him she still knows where to go. It is getting hot, Niki is dehydrated, Wolff is carrying Niki. Wolff hears a noise, it is Washington. Washington was looking for Wolff and Niki, and he found the Scrambler. Washington sees that they need water, tells Wolff that he will give him some of the reward money and he needs a ride off the planet. Wolff realizes that Washington is stuck on Terra 11 without a ride from him. Wolff tells Washington it is 50-50 for the reward money.
