Species II is a 1998 sequel to the 1995 movie Species
. It stars Natasha Henstridge, Michael Madsen, and Marg Helgenberger.

The movie begins about two years after the events of Species took place. Three astronauts are on Mars performing rock research. When they return to the ship, an alien life form contained within a rock sample escapes and takes over the bodies of two of the astronauts. The humans infected by the alien DNA mate and give birth to Earth-destroying creatures.

Meanwhile, another version of Sil has been created. Engineered to be more docile than her predecessor, she is part of an experiment to understand the alien life forms. However, events take an unexpected turn. Patrick Ross, the son of a Senator, returns from the Mars mission and begins picking up women, mating, and killing them in an effort to multiply the alien species. Eve is used as bait in an effort to terminate him. However, events turn sour as Eve breaks free of the captivity of the lab to mate with Patrick.

Unlike its predecessor, Species 2 was a failure at the box office. The critics, who almost universally panned the movie, pointed to the thin storyline, poor acting and gratuitous violence.
