Movies - Strong language


Strong language is a rating to indicate that movies, video/computer games and other media that is limited to a certain age. Other categories include violence. Strong language refers to rude, obscene, sexist or threatening with subjects of death or rape. Injury and drugs are defined as moderate. Occurrence of strong language places media within the explicit content category.

The label is used by many rap and hip-hop artists. The RIAA deals with copyright issues and provides written guidelines for parental advisory. Nudity is a separate category under the parental guidance scheme.

The term is used by broadcasters as a euphemism for profanity.
