| The Blockhouse was a 1973 film based on an apparent true story in book form written by Jean Paul Clebert, directed by Clive Rees and starring Peter Sellers. Prisoners of World War II are trapped by Allied bombing on D-Day and wind up inside a German blockhouse, sealed in. They have enough food and water and liquor to last them for years (but not enough candles). And they are trapped in there for years. The film follows what happened to them, how they dealt with their underground prison, and the relationships formed and the way they dealt with deaths. Some time later, the blockhouse was discovered and apparently two of the men emerged, having spent maybe two years without lighting. The film was a very dramatic role for Sellers who was famed for his comedy acting. Jeremy Kemp and Peter Vaughan also star.
