| The Bounty (1984) is a film that tells story of Captain Bligh (played by Anthony Hopkins), whose cruelty leads to a mutiny on his ship, the Bounty. This version follows both the efforts of Fletcher Christian (played by Mel Gibson) to get his men beyond the reach of British retribution, and the epic voyage of Captain Bligh to get his loyalists safely to East Timor in a tiny lifeboat. Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Liam Neeson and Daniel Day-Lewis star in the movie, which some claim to be based on true events, however this film is generally regarded as the most accurate depiction of the actual mutiny than the two other versions of The Bounty, the one with Clark Gable and the one with Marlon Brando. It was directed by Roger Donaldson with a score composed by Vangelis.
