The Captive Heart is a 1946 British war drama, directed by Basil Dearden.PlotSet in a POW camp after the Battle of Dunkirk, the film follows the lives of nine separate men. The main story involves one of the British officers, Capt. Geoffrey Mitchell. He is in fact Capt. Karel Hasek, a Czech soldier who has escaped from a concentration camp and assumed the identity of the dead officer. To avoid being detected, he corresponds with Mitchell's wife Celia, sending love letters. Celia falls in love as a result of the letters; she and her husband had a cool relationship before the war. After Hasek's POW camp is liberated, he "returns" to England, where he meets with Celia. She realises that she loves Hasek and they decide to stay together. Cast
