The Emperor's Club is a 2002 film that tells the story of a prep school teacher and his students. Based on Ethan Canin's short story "The Palace Thief," the film is directed by Michael Hoffman and stars Kevin Kline.

William Hundert is a passionate and principled Classics professor who finds his tightly-controlled world shaken and inexorably altered when a new student, Sedgewick Bell, walks into his classroom. What begins as a fierce battle of wills, gives way to a close student-teacher relationship. Twenty-five years later, Hundert is reunited with his students, and they realize how life has changed them all- all but one.
