| The Goose Steps Out is a zany knockabout British comedy film made in 1942. This film starred, and was co-directed by the popular British comedian Will Hay. The plot, related to World War II, revolves around Hay's character (William Potts) being an exact double of a German spy. Potts is flown into Nazi Germany to impersonate his double (with suitably hilarious consequenses). The film's title refers to the Nazis' vigorous ceremonial marching, called goose-stepping. Notable co-stars include Peter Ustinov, Charles Hawtrey (later of the Carry On films), and Barry Morse (later of The Fugitive). This film was one in a series of Will Hay movies which were as well-liked in the British Cinema of that time as the Marx Brothers were in Hollywood.
