| The Great Waldo Pepper is a 1975 film in which a biplane pilot who had missed flying in WWI takes up barnstorming and later a movie career in his quest for the glory he had missed, eventually getting a chance to prove himself in a film depicting the dog fights in the Great War. Waldo's protagonist throughout the story, the German ace Ernst Kessler, is based on the real Ernst Udet. Frank Tallman provided the magnificent flying sequences, using actual planes. It is notable that the star, Robert Redford performed his own wing-walking stunts in the film.
