The Grudge 2 is a sequel to 2004's The Grudge
. It will be directed by Takashi Shimizu and written by Stephen Susco. On December 5, 2005, it was announced that Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to reprise her role as Karen Davis. Filming began in mid February 2006 and the film is expected for release on October 20, 2006.

Plot Summary

In Tokyo Japan, a young woman (Tamblyn) is exposed to the same mysterious curse that afflicted her sister (Gellar). The supernatural force, which fills a person with rage before spreading to its next victim, brings together a group of previously unrelated people who attempt to unlock its secret to save their lives.

Production

Principal photography for The Grudge 2 began in Tokyo, Japan in mid February 2006 and is said to wrap up in April 2006.

Screen Gems hopes to make another sequel to end it as a trilogy. The original films only had one sequel, so a third would obviously need to take a new approach into the series.
