	Movies - The Hallelujah Trail

The Hallelujah Trail is a 1965 Western spoof directed by John Sturges and starring Burt Lancaster and Lee Remick. Donald Pleasence and Martin Landau are featured in minor roles, the latter being relatively unknown at the time.

The plot revolves around a shortage of whiskey in a small town in the Wild West. Under duress because of this situation, the men eventually decide that only a wagon train loaded with kegs of whiskey can save them. Col. Thaddeus Gearhart (Lancaster), the local fort commander, does his best to guard the precious goods while his daughter seems to be more interested the handsome Capt. Paul Slater (Jim Hutton).

Unfortunately for them, the local Indians are also interested in the goods and the women of the town revolt against their overimbibing husbands. Hilarity ensues, ending in the picturesque destruction of almost all wagons (some break apart from speeding, others sink in the swamp).

Despite being ostensibly a spoof, the movie is technically outstanding, having been filmed in 65 mm Ultra Panavision.
