The House On The Edge Of The Park (Italian: La Casa sperduta nel parco) is a 1980 exploitation film from the infamous Italian director Ruggero Deodato. It utilizes David Hess from Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left (playing a similar character), and John Morghen (aka Giovanni Lombardo Radice), casting them as a pair of disco-crazed hoodlums who gatecrash an upscale party and proceed to beat, rape and torture the guests after being humiliated themselves.

Deodato's film has been criticized for depicting rape victims enjoying (and indeed getting "turned on" by) their ordeal, and its prurient close-ups of the mutilation of a helpless, sobbing young woman by a sneering, sadistic Hess. Deodato's central point seems to be that a pair of reprobates like Hess and Morghen aren't so bad in comparison with the jaded idle rich who get their kicks from humiliating the lower classes.

The House On The Edge Of The Park was released on video in the UK by Skyline in the early 1980s, but this uncut release found itself on the video nasties list and was banned for several years, having previously been rejected a cinema certificate by the BBFC. The most complete version of the film currently legally available in England is trimmed by almost eleven minutes.
