	Movies - The Last of the Mohicans

The Last of the Mohicans is a 1920 film version of James Fenimore Cooper's novel with a same name. It tells the story of two English girls, trying to reach the fort where their father is commander, suffering danger in the frontier of the American colonies. It stars Wallace Beery, Barbara Bedford, Alan Roscoe, Lillian Hall, Henry Woodward, James Gordon, George Hackathorne, Nelson McDowell, Harry Lorraine, Theodore Lorch and Chief Tahachee.

The movie was adapted by Robert Dillon and directed by Clarence Brown and Maurice Tourneur.

There were other versions in 1911, 1932, 1936, 1977 and 1992, and a television miniseries in 1971. The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

In the 1757, was the time of the war between France and England in North America, and, as the adventure begins. The British force was commanded by Colonel Munro and Major Heyward, the French force commanded by Montcalm allies of Magua. He was the Native American runner, one of the Huron warriors. General Webb receives news of French attack under Montcalm is coming, there was only guarded by the small force of the Scotsman Munro. Captain Duncan Heyward is dispatched to take Munro daughters to that Fort along with Magua, and then we meet Hawkeye with his two tribe’s friend who rescues Heyward, and the two daughters of Col. Munro from the ambush. The two daughters are Cora and Alice, Heyward like Cora, but later love happens with Hawkeye. They go the north of the lake crossing the country, Uncas, Heyward, and Munro’s girl captured by the Hurons, while Hawkeye escaping. Magua is trying to kill his prisoners, but Hawkeye appears to rescue them, speaking English and Heyward translating. Col. Heyward changed his freedom for Cora, speaking in Indian language. Uncas was trying to rescue Alice from heir’s death, but he was killed. At the end Magua was killed. Chingachgook whose son is the last of the Mohican tribe, Hawkeye is seemingly the last decent white man as he respects the Indians. Writed By Chia Hao Chen
