The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking was a 1988 fantasy-adventure-musical film based on the Pippi Longstocking series created by Astrid Lindgren.

Plot summary

Pirate Pippi Longstocking, a girl with super-strength and other powers and her widower father, Efraim are heading to Kurra Kurra Island on a ship. When the ship is destroyed in a storm, Pippi is stranded with her horse, Alfonso and her monkey, Mr. Neilson. Pippi eventually finds Villa Villkula, which is located in the fictional town of Rocksby, Florida. Pippi later befriends Tommy and Annika Settigren, her next-door neighbors. The trio find themselves in various situations such as running away from home on a homemade airplane, flying a motorcycle through town and showering the local orphans with ice cream and candy. Pippi is threatened by various adults; Miss Bannister, the orphanage director, Tommy and Annika's father and by three men who want to seize Pippi's home. Eventually, Pippi's father finds her and comes back, becoming King of the cannibals on Kurra Kurra Island. Pippi officially becomes a princess and almost leaves with her father, but changes her mind quickly.
