The Patriot is a 1998 action film. The film stars Steven Seagal, Gallard Sartain, L.Q. Jones, Whitney Yellow Robe, and Camilla Belle. It was directed by Dean Semler, written by M. Sussman, and produced by Patrick Choi, Nile Niami, Howard L. Baldwin, Steven Seagal, and Julius R. Nasso. The plot involves a Canadian patriot has to foil a militia's plot to release a deadly virus. The film is rated R by the MPAA.

Steven Seagal plays one of his signature multiroles, here combining expertise as a highly trained medical doctor, research phytochemist, government agent, martial arts master, and ethnographer. He is in a race against time to produce a quick homeopathic cure with native flowers, and deliver this airborne potpourri before the villain's plans can be realized.

Seagal chose Whitney Yellow Robe for the Seagalian role of indigenous love interest/collaborator.
