Movies - The Ruff and Reddy Show

The Ruff and Reddy Show was the very first cartoon created by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera for their new company after leaving Tom & Jerry behind at MGM. Not quite the first made-for-TV network cartoon (that honor goes to Terrytoons
' short-lived 1956 primetime series, CBS Cartoon Theatre hosted by Dick Van Dyke
), Ruff And Reddy was very similar in format to Jay Ward’s Crusader Rabbit, which was the first made-for-TV syndicated cartoon. This show featured a little smart cat, Ruff, and a big dumb dog, Reddy, in serial misadventures (a formula repeated by Jay Ward himself a couple of years later with Rocky And Bullwinkle)
