The Saint's Girl Friday distributed by RKO in 1954, was produced by Royal Productions in London and produced by Julian Lesser. It was the last of a series of popular films, dating back 1938, featuring the character of Simon Templar, hero of a series of novels by Leslie Charteris.

Louis Hayward, who had been the first actor to play Templar in the series 18 years earlier, returned to the role one last time for this film.

Charteris had a percentage in the film, in hopes that it would revive the Saint movie series, but this did not occur. A later attempt to launch a Saint film series in France with Felix Marten in the lead so disgusted Charteris that he refused to allow Royal Productions any further usage of the character. It wasn't until the 1960s and the advent of the TV version of The Saint starring Roger Moore that the character achieved lasting success.
