Movies - The Saint in London

The Saint in London (RKO, 1939) was produced by William Sistrom
. John Paddy Carstairs directed. Lynn Root and Frank Fenton
wrote the screenplay based on Leslie Charteris' short story, The Million Pound Day, which was published in the collection The Saint in London.

George Sanders
returned as Simon Templar, The Saint.

Charteris didn't much care for the film, even though public enthusiasm said otherwise. He believed George Sanders was cast better than Louis Hayward
in the role. Also, he was upset by RKO's treatment of the character's storylines and plots up to this point.

Other uses

The title The Saint in London was also used in some reprint editions of Charteris' 1934 Saint novella collection, The Misfortunes of Mr. Teal. The book has no connection to the movie except that it also features Simon Templar. Another alternate title for the book is The Saint in England.
