| The Snapper (1990) is a book by Irish writer Roddy Doyle and the second novel in The Barrytown Trilogy. It tells the story of young Sharon Rabbitte being pregnant by a friend's father. She is decided to keep the "snapper" and refuses to reveal the identiy of the begetter. Film adaptationThe story was made into a movie of the same title in 1993, directed by Stephen Frears and starring Tina Kelegher and Colm Meaney. In the movie, the surname of the Rabbitte family has to be changed into Curley as 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the Rabbitte name from The Commitments (1987).
