The Story of Qiu Ju (秋菊打官司, 1992) is a Chinese comedy-drama film. The film was directed by Zhang Yimou and as is the case with many of the director's other films, stars Gong Li in the title role. The story of the film was adapted from Yuan Bin Chen's novella The Wan Family's Lawsuit. It tells of a woman, Qiu Ju, who lives in a rural area of China and whose husband suffers a slight at the hands of the village head. She then travels to a big city but has to deal with its bureaucrats in order to find justice.

The film was a hit in film festivals, even winning the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival in 1992.
