During the first three seasons of the television variety show The Tracey Ullman Show, two different series of animated shorts were run before and after commercial breaks. One was created by cartoonist Matt Groening featuring a family known as The Simpsons and another was a lesser known series by M.K. Brown named Dr. N!Godatu.

Bart: Um dad?
Homer: Yeah?
Bart: What is the mind? Is it just a system of impulses or is it something tangible?
Homer: Relax. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind. (laughs)
Bart: Thanks dad...
Homer: Goodnight son.
Marge: Good night Lisa.
Lisa: Goodnight mom.
Marge: Sweet Dreams.
Lisa: Thanks mom.
Marge: Sleep tight.
Lisa: I will mom.
Marge: Don't let the bed bugs bite.
Lisa: Bed bugs?
Marge: Rockabye baby, in the treetop. When the wind blows, the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall, and down will come baby, cradle and all. Sweet dreams.
Homer: We may be the best parents in the world.
Marge: Mmmm. Goodnight dear.
Homer: Goodnight.
Lisa and Bart: (unintelligible screaming)
Marge: Alright, climb in.
Homer: There's nothing to worry about, now everyone go to sleep. Goodnight.
Maggie: Goodnight dad.
