The Wrong Guy is a 1997 Canadian comedy film directed by David Steinberg. It was co-written by Dave Foley of The Kids in the Hall fame. Foley also stars in the picture, along with David Anthony Higgins, Jennifer Tilly and Colm Feore. The film's tagline is "A fugitive in his own mind."

Synopsis

The Wrong Guy tells the story of dorky executive Neslon Hibbert (Foley), who gets passed over for a promotion. When he goes to confront his boss (Kenneth Welsh), he finds that the man has already been murdered, and, stupidly, assumes that he will be mistaken for the murderer. Nelson flees, unaware that security cameras have already revealed the identity of the true killer to the authorities. Nelson escapes to Mexico, where he meets both someone he doesn't know is the real killer (Feore) and the murder's investigator, Detective Arlen (Higgins). Thanks to a series of strange coincidences that leads Nelson to believe the detective is after him and the killer to believe Nelson is after him, what follows is a bizarre series of misadventures marked with slapstick routines, constant one-liners, and a heavy dose of absurdism.
