Three O' Clock High is a 1987 American high school comedy film directed by Phil Joanou
and written by Richard Christian Matheson & Thomas Szollosi.

Plot summary

The film begins with High School student Jerry Mitchell over-sleeping and rushing through his morning duties only to discover that his automobile has a flat tire—thus rendering him completely immobile. As an alternative method of transportation, Jerry resorts to driving his mother's automobile to school.

Upon Jerry's arrival to school that morning, he constantly overhears ongoing rumors regarding a tough new student by the name Buddy Revell. There has been claims that Buddy's past consists of sheer violence and malevolent maiming of students and teachers.

Unfortunately for Jerry, his best friend (whom of which is the head of the newspaper club) decides to purposely assign Jerry with an assignment regarding Buddy's malicious past. As Jerry is haunted by the notion of being assigned with such an article, he coincidentally runs into Buddy Rivell in the boy's restroom. Jerry attempts to come to mends with the the nefarious bully in an amiable fashion; although unannounced to Jerry, Buddy Rivell has a contact complex.

As Jerry is in the process of apologizing, he gives Buddy a neighborly tap on the shoulder—an act which starts the flame and thus compels Jerry to prepare for a fight with his newly acquired nemisis at three o'clock in the parking lot.

As a method to get Buddy Revell removed from school, Jerry Mitchell's friend, Vincent Costello, decides to plant an elephantine switchblade in Buddy's locker, place a note on the desk of the Vice Principal Mr. O'Rourke in order to hint him off and simply wait for Buddy's removal from school.

Unfortunately for Jerry, Buddy discoveres the switchblade prior to Mr. O'Rourke and decides to cut the wires in Jerry's automobile engine; rendering him incapable of an escape. Jerry is then caught by the school security guard, Duke, whom of which hands Jerry Mitchell over to Principal Dolinski. Jerry and Voytek Dolinksi have a somewhat lengthy conversation about how Jerry's felonious possession of a concealed weapon as well as his attempt at leaving school during a pep rally could effect his high school transcript.

Out of sheer desperation, Jerry eventually decides to question high school football star, Craig Mattey, and inquire whether or not he could stand up for him and frighten Buddy out of the fight at three o'clock. Craig agrees to do so as long as Jerry grants him a compensation of $450.00—an amount far exceeding his expectations.

Unfortunately, the only possibly method for Jerry to access any sort of money was if he borrowed it from the school store. Eventually Jerry ends up in a drastic conundrum while trapped in the school store during a fire drill, Craig Mattey awaiting outside for his money, and the register within the school store was jammed. Jerry then destroyed the school store in which he was the honorable clerk for after multiple attempts at opening with several different impromptu methods.

The moment Jerry grants Craig Mattey his $450.00 alottment, Craig immediately motions towards the library where Buddy Revell was and makes a stalwart attempt at frightening Buddy—although Buddy only responds to Craig's attempt by breaking his finger and punching him directly in the nose. Jerry is then granted $350.00 out of the $450.00 due to his friend Vincent choosing to grant Craig a complementary one-hundred dollars for his legitimate attempt.

Jerry eventually does everything possible in order to halt what he believes to be an unnecessary quarrel; until he offers his remaining $350.00 to Buddy Rivell—which is hesitantly accepted by the bully. After Buddy was paid, he referred to Jerry as the "biggest pussy he ever knew", which acted as fuel to motivate Jerry into gaining the will-power to fight Buddy and claim victory after school at 3 O'Clock.

Thoughtout the entire film, Jerry is also constantly faced with multiple female influences which play a huge role on the quality of his day. As Jerry experienced an onslaught of sexual innuendos from his eccentric female friend, the quintessential popular girl, and his English teacher. Despite the fact that Jerry ostensibly makes the noble decision of staying with his female friend, it is later claimed during the credits that he is dating the popular female, Karen.

Steven Spielberg

Along with executive producers Aaron Spelling and Alan Greisman, Steven Spielberg
also worked on the film, Three O'Clock High, yet requested to have his name removed from the credits. Nevertheless, Steven Spielberg
was not the only individual whom of which requested no affiliation with the film whatsoever --the critics themselves found this film to merely be an obscure film that they simply had no interest in.
