Variety Lights (Luci del varietà) is a 1950's Italian film diected and produced by Federico Fellini. The film launched Fellini's directorial career, and was a collaboration, in production, direction, and screenplay, with another author, Alberto Lattuada. Up to that time Fellini had worked mainly on screenplays (most notably Roberto Rossellini’s Open City), while Lattuada was already an established, respected director of neorealism and quality literary adaptations.PlotIt is a bittersweet drama about a bunch of second-rate theatrical performers on tour. The group of actors, dancers, and performers struggle to make it from town to town, playing to minimal crowds, while the aging manager of the company falls in love with a newcomer, to the chagrin of his faithful mistress, Giulietta Masina.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Variety Lights ] Some related entries: Festival in Cannes | Skammen | Cate Shortland | Rambo: First Blood Part II | 50 First Dates | The Man Who Wasn't There | Last Days of Coney Island | Film | Love & Basketball | Opasniye Povoroty | S.O.B.
