Velocity Trap is a 1997 film, directed by Philip Roth.

Plot

Nelson is sent to clean up the enforcement division of a space colony. Ray Stokes is framed for the murder of another enforcement officer, killed by Nelson's assassin. However his boss, who is implicated in Nelson's death, and has previously forced Stokes' dead daughter's mother to enter a marriage contract with him to fund the duaghter's medical bills while Stokes was sent off planet, wants to avoid any enquiry, so sends Stokes on a six month trip to Earth, protecting a cargo of cash. Meanwhile the crew of The Endeavour have planned to intercept the money ship whilst the crew are in hibernation. The interception occurs, Stokes and the attractive female navigator are the only survivors of the ensuing gun play, they steal the money and buy the mining colony. The evil boss is arrested, and presumably they all live happily ever after.
