Village of the Giants is a 1965 movie produced by Bert I. Gordon, based loosely on H.G. Wells's book The Food of the Gods
. The cast was mostly teens — or young actors playing teens — at the time, and included Tommy Kirk, Beau Bridges, Toni Basil, Johnny Crawford, Joy Harmon, Tim Rooney, Tisha Sterling, and a preteen Ron Howard, among others. The Beau Brummels and Freddy Cannon also make musical guest appearances.

In January 1994, Village of the Giants was featured as an episode of movie-mocking television show Mystery Science Theater 3000.

In the story, Howard plays a young whiz-kid called "Genius", who invents a substance while playing with a chemistry set, that causes giant growth in living things. While Kirk wants to use the substance (called "Goo") to solve world hunger and other problems, Bridges and his friends instead steal and consume it, growing to thirty feet tall. They crash a party being held in town, Harmon dangles Crawford from her huge bikini top, Bridges knocks Kirk around like a kitten, and the teen giants take over the town. They kidnap the local sheriff's daughter, confiscate all the local guns, and cut off communication with the outside world.

Kirk and his friends fight back, while "Genius" Howard tries to make more Goo they can use to solve the giant problem. In the end, he finds another solution and saves the day.

The movie was low-budget and not a huge hit, but had some notable use of special effects and undoubted sex appeal, and went on to become a cult classic.
