The Walt Disney World Swan is located between Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios behind Disney's BoardWalk Resort area and across from it's sister resort, the Walt Disney World Dolphin. The Epcot resort opened it's doors on January 13, 1990 and offers deluxe room accommodations. The Swan is located on Disney property, although the hotel itself is operated and managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. It is a Westin Hotels resort. The exterior of the Swan can easily be distinguished from it's sister by a number of reasons. First by the two giant 47-foot swan statues on its roof. It also does not have the Dolphin's massive 27-story triangular tower in the center of the main building and it has only two 7-story wings rather than four 9-story ones therefore making the number of rooms far less than that of the Dolphin. Also the turquoise waves on the colored facade, they are not a wave pattern on the Dolphin rather they are a banana-leaf pattern. What is similar is that both have the same arched-shape 12-story main building. The Swan and the Dolphin each have 17 restaurants(such as the Garden Grove Cafe or Palio, an Italian Bistro) and lounges. The Swan and Dolphin are not only popular with families and vacationers but are also popular with conventioneers each boasts over 329,000 square feet of meeting space.
