Within the Woods is a short film made by Sam Raimi in 1978. Sam, Bruce Campbell, and other friends shot this movie in Super 8mm film in effort to raise money in order to produce The Evil Dead
. The plot of this film is very similar to The Evil Dead. It contains many scenes that were later used in "The Evil Dead." Notably there is even one scene that was later used in "Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn." It was shown as a double billing with "Rocky Horror Picture Show" when a critic saw it and gave it a very good review, one of the things that Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert used to prove they could make a good horror film (along with showing them this movie). The film is widely available in bootleg, though most copies are of very poor quality.
