Movies - Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is the first movie based on the DC comic book character, Wonder Woman. The movie is being written and directed by Joss Whedon
, and produced by Joel Silver (the producer of The Matrix
films) and Leonard Goldberg.

As of January, 2006, no casting has been done, though Whedon has expressed a strong preference for a young unknown, rather than an established star, to take on the title role. In the director's commentary for Serenity, he strongly hints that Morena Baccarin
is being considered for the role.

Project history

The development of this movie began in late 2001. Sandra Bullock
was signed on to be Wonder Woman. Production soon fell apart when Bullock was not happy with production and the way the movie was going so she pulled out. The movie would be in limbo for the next 4 years with various casting rumor, directors, and different script drafts. This all stopped in early 2005 when Joss Whedon
, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
, and Angel
, signed on as director. Production is moving forward and the movie is set to be released in 2007 or 2008.
