You So Crazy (1994) is a stand up comedy starring Martin Lawrence. It was his first major film and stand up act. The film was directed by Thomas Schlamme who is most notable for filming scores of television series such as Ally McBeal and Spin City. The film features a young Lawrence in a black, leather suit similar to the wardrobe worn by Eddie Murphy in his films Delirious and RAW.

During the routine, Lawrence touches on everything from his success to growing up, to sexual acts and relationships. He is very raunchy in the film and it is obvious that some of his material was influenced by other stand up comedians, mainly Murphy and Richard Pryor. The comedy was filmed at the Beacon Theatre in New York City before a sold out crowd. Martin followed You So Crazy up with Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat in 2002.

You So Crazy was one of the things that helped Martin breakout during the early 1990s. He had also starred in television series including his own, Martin and had bit parts in some films like the House Party series. The film went on to become a huge success for Lawrence generating over $10 million at the box office and while that sum is not great by movie standards it is considered a good haul for stand up and documentary films.

After the release of this film, Lawrence burst onto the movie scene filming movie after movie. With each movie, his salary rose and eventually ballooned up to $20 million per picture although he generally receives about $10 million per picture now. His success can be greatly contributed to the release of this popular film.
