Zee Cine Awards is an award instituted by the Zee Network, a Mumbai-based TV station. The award is intended to target South Asians globally.

History

The awards were inaugurated in 1998 and unlike most ceremonies are a mixture of categories decided on by public votes and categories solely judged by an industry jury. The venue was none other than the hub of Indian cinema, Mumbai.

The organization took a bigger step forward and went international in 2004 by keeping the award ceremony in Dubai. In 2005, Zee Cine Awards went to London and 2006 is taking ZCA to Mauritius, the hub of Asian Glamour and Lifestyle.

The trophy is another distinctive feature of the awards, reason being the craftsman ship with which it has been created from Australia. Each trophy is 24 carat gold plated.

Award Categories

The awards are given in the current year but the winner is awarded for the performance or work for the previous year, for example someone who awarded in 2001 was recognised for the work in 2000.
