| Alix Dobkin (b. August 16, 1940) is a folk singer/songwriter. She was born in New York City and raised in Philadelphia. She graduated from Germantown High School in 1958, and the Tyler School of Art, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, in 1962. She began performing the Greenwich Village coffeehouse Scene in the early '60's. Dobkin briefly married a man in the late 1960's, the marriage producing a daughter. In 1972, Dobkin came out as a lesbian, something very uncommon for a public personality to do at the time. She has since been very active in promoting GLBT rights. DiscographyAlbums
