Angie Martinez is a Bronx-born Puerto Rican, who made a name for herself as a disc jockey on New York's hip hop radio station Hot 97. She debuted her rapping skills in the late 90s, first appearing on Lil' Kim's 1997 hit remix, "Not Tonite" from 1997's Nothing To Losesoundtrack. At the beginning of the new millennium, Martinez appeared on D12's "Fight Music" single and a short time later released her first album, on the strength of its single "Dem Thangs". The album and single were commercial flops.

Her daily afternoon show on HOT 97 features guests from Jay-Z to Bill Clinton; Lil' Kim to Janet Jackson.

She has released two of her own rap albums entitled, "Up Close and Personal," and "Animal House." Angie has also appeared on the big screen in the movies such as "Paper Soldiers," "Brown Sugar," and will be featured in the upcoming movie, State Property 2.

In 2003, she became a mother, giving birth to her first son, Niko, with Nokio, a singer from the R&B group Dru Hill.
