| Arabella Steinbacher is a German violinist. Born in Munich in 1981 she began studying the instrument from the age of three. When she was nine years old she was enrolled at the Munich College of Music and mentored by Ana Chumachenko. Steinbacher came into contact with Ivry Gitlis and took part in master classes by Dorothy DeLay and Kurt Sassmannshaus in Aspen, Colorado. She won several important prizes ('Joseph Joachim Violin Competition' in Hannover and a grant by the Free State of Bavaria 2001) and became a student of Anne-Sophie Mutter's circle of friends.
